More from Palisades Point

It's been a week since I began to tell you about our weekend at the farm.
I've been to Miami Beach for a conference and am now back.

Last year, our good friends from Wheaton, Allen and Linda, spent a week at the farm with us and helped us with several projects.  We really appreciated their help, but I think what we will appreciate the most is that they helped us plant several trees.  The ground was so dry and hard that we had to hack at the ground with our shovel and then pull them out of the ground by their roots.  Well, it appears that one of those trees is going to make it. 

It appears it will be in a perfect place, by the fence post in the foreground.

C&J have 4 bottle calves to get their beef herd started.  It has been a lot of work for them.  Jackie is enjoying them.  She looks good for a city girl, doesn't she?

Bob had a fun project to work on.  We have a table saw - with no basement to keep it in.  We had it out in the garden shed - and had to carry it outside whenever we wanted to use it.  They have the calves in the same shed and they are just out of room.  So, Bob built a dolly to put the tablesaw on and make it easier to move it around.  They were able to roll it up in the trailer and take it down to the small barn.  Next time we need to use it, it should be easier to get it and bring it back up to the house.  It is half a mile down to the small barn.

Easter Weekend

Welcome back.  It's been a long time since I've posted.
Our whole family was together at the farm.  I couldn't find my camera when we took family pictures so I don't have those until one of the kids shares.

It was wonderful to have the children together.

R made sugar cookies and J & R painted them.  R's family does this.  The "paint" is egg yolk and water with food coloring in them.

They died eggs.

Time for bed, so hopefully, more later.

What I've been up to.

I made a wool coat for Gooner. It looks a little wrinkly.

I made some hooded towels for the Craft Shop.

I taught the craft class in November. We made folded star ornaments. This is one table. We had 2 tables.

I Finished up a scrap quilt.

I made a quilt for Sooner. Not the prettiest but hopefully warm and useful.

And since I had the fabric I figured living in the mountains they could never have too many quilts.

I am sooo excited!

We finally got the lower stairs completed.  It was a long road with a lot of decisions about how we were going to take the 1921 stairway and make it be what we wanted.

We will have to do baseboard and paint the back wall, but still, big sigh of relief.

Dari's family - fn

Darin's family is here for a couple days.  We've had a wonderful time of talking.

Visit to Mary - fn

After the conference was over, I flew to Mary's in Texas.
Her roses were beautiful!!!  On the right is the front door.

A beautiful and comfortable house.

A good-sized side yard.

And then still more - a big yard behind the fenced yard.

George was repairing the fence.

I spent a lot of time in Mary's sewing room.  I finished a purse and got a good start on a wall-hanging.

I had a wonderful time.

And then back to the airport and home to Wheaton.

Catching Up - Las Vegas - fn

I haven't posted for quite some time, and have done a lot.

I had my trip to Las Vegas the middle of April for a software conference.
I stayed at the Wynn Hotel.  It was very luxurious and a great conference.

I was on the 51st floor.  The view was amazing.  The Wynn hotel has it's own golf course and then the mountains in the background.

The bathroom had a beautiful shower and tub ...

double sinks, and a separate room for the toilet.

There were beautiful flowers and trees in the lobby so you couldn't see the casino from the front desk area.

Again, I was on the 51st floor.
