Progress

We have made great progress in the past week.  The siding is on the back side, the lower part of the left end, and half of the front.  It will end up getting painted blue/gray to match the house.  With white trim.

And this morning when we left for work, this bug was sitting on the side of the house.  It is about 3 1/2 inches long.

Lots of progress - But still lots of work to do.

New sill built.  Studs added.

All the sheathing filled in and now the plywood started inside.

Yard and New Project

The new landscaping is looking beautiful.
Its been so dry though, that we have to water.

The oakleaf azalea has large stately looking flowers.

Doesn't this look nice and inviting?

The first day lilies were the traditional yellow and were very pretty.
But then these came out in this pinky-salmon color!  Beautiful.

I thought these azalea were supposed to be either pink or blue, but our has kind of a mix.  The pink is more pronounced in person.

We had a deep purple lilac at the end of the porch which we had decided to cut down because it was looking spindly.  We left the stump and one branch so it wouldn't look so bare.  All these new shoots have grown up out of the stump.  We are going to leave them and see what happens.

And then we've started our next project.  Doing much needed repairs to the garage.  We are replacing 3 windows with a smaller size.  We have the first taken out.  Now we will need to re-frame.  The old framing though, is 3" studs on 24" centers.  We've decided we will have to build it all out to the dimensions of current faming lumber, otherwise we would have wavy walls between the new and the old dimensions.  Should not be difficult though.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Charley and Jackie were up at 6:30 to head to the Farmers’ Market in Wilmore.
Bob, John and I got up at 6:30 so we could drive to Danville to the rental place to pick up the excavator.  First we had breakfast at “Old McDonald’s.”

I was upstairs looking out the bedroom window when they unloaded the excavator.  In the distance, you see the area where they are growing vegetables for the market.  Watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, pumpkin.  Lots of good stuff.

Bob & Charley spent all afternoon getting started on digging the trench.  John had a turn behind the controls also.

John had a hard afternoon.

In the middle of the garden, a bird has made a nest.

It was HOT!
