More from the Weekend - fn

We were so excited that Bob & Shirley were making a trip to the east coast doing some geneaology research and wanted to stop by the farm!  And - we were going to be there at the same time.

Bob - Uncle Bob, not Grandpa Bob had assembled a toy kitchen for John.  We were amazed when we opened the box that it was all small snap-apart pieces that had to be put together.  Fun project though.  Now John has his own kitchen.  We had a wonderful time.

Work Weekend at the farm - fn

We had several days at the farm.  Bob says we got lots of things "half" done.

They worked on building a woven wire fence which is our first.  The neighbor had put in the posts and Bob and Charley rolled out the wire.  They had to stop, though, because there was not a brace post at the end of the length of wire, so charley will have to take care of that and then he can stretch the wire and continue.  So, right now, it looks very "saggy," but it will get there.

Any fence tips from Dale or Daryl - or anyone - would be welcomed.

Newest Project - fn

Here is our current project.  C&J are expanding their chickens, so needed more nests.
Bob & I really enjoy working on things like this.

We are going down to the farm tomorrow.  Then Bob & Shirley are stopping to visit as they are doing a road trip to the east coast.  We are excited!

Progress

Another one done.  A made this for M while they lived in Panama.  It needs a label.  I just need to find my pen.
Gooner is helping me with this one.

And it is done.  Except for the label of course.
This one is for La & Q for their wedding over 2 years ago.  The backing was from the curtain from their wedding.  The front is a paper pieced pattern called Twisted Star.

I think Gooner likes this one.
It is pinned and I have started sewing but it isn't done.

And this one is pinned but I haven't started sewing it yet.

It will be a while for this one.  We weren't happy with our quilting job so I am taking it all out.  One disaster out of our week wasn't so bad.  We are still learning.

Josh Moving - fn

Rachelle got an adjunct professor position at IWU.  She received the call on Monday while at the engine show in Iowa.  They came back to Wheaton on Monday, drove back to Marion on Tuesday and she taught her class on Wednesday.  Josh drove back here on Thursday and pulled their stuff out of the attic.  He loaded up some other stuff and headed back on Friday.

Saturday, we met them halfway to switch back our vehicles.  We met in Plymouth, IN and we had a wonderful couple hours together.

Testing the size of pictures

I learned that Jackie can't see the pictures because she is using dial-up.
So, my main object here is test the size of pictures.
You have already seen these pictures, but I have resized them.

These are all resized.

Let me know if this picture size makes it better or worse for anyone.

Quilting Weekend - fn

So far, M has done all the posting.  She has her computer right with her, so I didn't have to go upstairs and turn mine on.  Made it very convenient.

This was our end result.  10 quilts quilted.

This was my quilt.  I had embroidered the blocks a couple years ago.

Don't know how to rotate this picture

This was created by A - butterflies

On Monday, we went to our friend Charlene's house and quilted on her big, modern Gammill.  Really different experience from our antique.  Did La's wedding quilt.

This one was made by La several years ago.

There were several more that M took pictures of and I didn't, so she'll have to share those.

That's all for now.

From Wilma - fn

Just received this picture from Wilma.
Sam was going to work on her stone over Labor Day weekend and it looks like he made great progress!
Looks beautiful, Sam !!!

Quilting Weekend

The quilting weekend has begun.
This is what a queen size quilt batt looks like straight out of the suitcase using one of those vacuum bags.

One in the bag.  One out of the bag.

Practicing.  Quilt one down.

Quilt number two down.

Working on quilt number three.

Here is the stack of tops waiting to be worked on.  Do you think we will finish them before I go home?

We have plenty of quilt batts on hand.  We can always go to the store if we need more.
