Christmas Eve - fn

It's Christmas Eve.  Bob and I are at the farm doing chores so C&J&J could go to Atlanta.
Bob got the electric circuit connected in the guest room so we got rid of all the extension cords.  We put up a temporary light.

I got the vanity put in the place where it will be.

I spent time painting doors.

A working holiday, but we are content.
Merry Christmas to all.



I am so excited!

I got this dresser that Jackie is going to use as the vanity in her upstairs bathroom.

A donor to the College died and his family didn't want to have to get rid of the furniture.  So our office did a silent auction online and I got this piece.  Now I have to find a sink top for it.

Thanksgiving Weekend - fn

We had a wonderful weekend!

We had good food

And good times in the kitchen getting it ready.  Help from big and little.

We got work done, drywall upstairs

I had another picture to insert, but this is locking up now so I'll add that later.

Here is how Mom spends most of her day.  At least it keeps her out of trouble.

She has her own sitting room.

She is enjoying playing the piano.

What is Sprouts?

Swimming

Mom is settling in.  Tomorrow she is going to the local Aqua Swim and taking a water aerobics class.  She will start out going twice a week.  She will go tomorrow then not again until next week because of Thanksgiving.

The bed was too high so we put the box springs right on the floor. 

We walked a little this morning.  We didn't make it to the corner but almost.  We did go to Sprouts this afternoon.  We have been working on her embroidery.  I've been doing the parts she doesn't want to do.

She has been playing the piano and enjoying that.  I think she has more to do here and it is definitely easier to go outside but we'll see how content she chooses to be.

I'll keep you up to date on what we do.  Maybe we will even have some pictures at some point.

Past weekend - fn

We went to Iowa for the weekend.  I didn't take any pictures.
We went to Dick & Josie's Friday night.  On Saturday, the guys got the wagon loaded.  D&J had already taken it apart so that made it easier.
Mid-morning, someone came tearing into the yard.  There was a tractor out in the field tilling Dick's ground and a neighbor had a grass fire that had gotten out of control, so the "big" tractor went tearing out of the yard to go plow around the fire.  Bob & Dick went to help, but didn't really need to do anything.
The thing is - when they got it under control - and I thought there was quite a wind - the farmer started it up again to keep burning the fence rows.

Bob & I went to Dale & Carol's for supper and a visit.  Their new family room is BEAUTIFUL!!!  It feels like I want my new house to feel (if it ever happens).
Roomy and comfortable.  It doesn't feel like an addition.  It feels like it has always been there.

Sunday morning we drove over to Mom's.  Visited for a bit and went to Pizza Ranch for dinner.  Got home about 8:00.  Then back to work Monday.

West Texas

We drove through West Texas helping La move.  I guess you can take the "girl" out of the farm but not the farm out of the "girl".  G was a great sport about stopping so I could pick up some cotton along the side of the road and take some pictures.


We are glad to be back home although it is pretty quiet here.

The continuing saga of the stairway

They put a fire ring inside a corn crib

I think the man who rehabbed the house was very creative.  He robbed this space from the garage to add a 2nd bathroom.

Darin said, "Who would have known this project took all summer!" He was hoping to paint his house and never got to it.

Sam helped cut the stone for the roof angles to finish putting the stone up. Darin has grouted the lower portion but all the rest needs to be done yet before winter.

we are at Josh & Rachelle's this weekend.  Today is Josh's 30th birthday and Thursday was K's 1st birthday.  I've taken quite a few pictures and was going to put several here - but his computer is just tooooo sllooooooowwwww.  So, I'll put a couple and will put more when we get home.
They are in their own home now.  It is really comfortable.  3 bedroom, 2 bathroom.

This afternoon, we went to a corn maze and pumpkin farm.  The maze was ho-hum, but we had a hay ride and baby goats and donkeys and nice environment.

More from the Weekend - fn

We were so excited that Bob & Shirley were making a trip to the east coast doing some geneaology research and wanted to stop by the farm!  And - we were going to be there at the same time.

Bob - Uncle Bob, not Grandpa Bob had assembled a toy kitchen for John.  We were amazed when we opened the box that it was all small snap-apart pieces that had to be put together.  Fun project though.  Now John has his own kitchen.  We had a wonderful time.

Work Weekend at the farm - fn

We had several days at the farm.  Bob says we got lots of things "half" done.

They worked on building a woven wire fence which is our first.  The neighbor had put in the posts and Bob and Charley rolled out the wire.  They had to stop, though, because there was not a brace post at the end of the length of wire, so charley will have to take care of that and then he can stretch the wire and continue.  So, right now, it looks very "saggy," but it will get there.

Any fence tips from Dale or Daryl - or anyone - would be welcomed.

Labor Day with the grandchildren, S & R while Mom and Dad were on a roadtrip. Legos are from about 20 years ago when their Dad and Uncle Sam were young. WL

Wendell and I attended a Coast Guard Reunion in Port Clinton, OH.  I climbed this Lighthouse and the guide took this picture.  Notice my back is against the wall, never went to the railing.
